I'm just thinking about this blog post I wrote in 2018. Because even when Twitter makes a good decision, the first sentence comes to mind: Why does the entire world have to wait on the CEO of one US company to make a decision?

Democracy prospects in US
My pessimistic trajectory is that not enough people get this, especially in light of yesterday. They do a business usual thing when we’re in a horror movie with a killer closing in on an unsuspecting victim. Us.
What do you think will happen in 2022 or 2024 when the same authoritarians play the same “just ignore the results we don’t like” games, but with a majority in one of the chambers of congress?
Democracy prospects in US
I continue to think that the long-term takeaway from the 2020 elections is that Biden bought time for everyone else to get their shit together and to have a fighting chance to turn the fascist tide.
It wasn’t a big enough win / clear enough sweep to electorally discredit the authoritarians.
People, incl politicians in the democratic party need to fight like hell in the next 2-4 years, as you have to deprogram a few million radicalized cultists.

You know it's a major crisis when Dick Cheney is on the good side.
I never in a million years would have thought that possible, shows how dire the situation is.
