foreign policy consequences, Venezuela Show more
So Venezuela is heading towards the abyss. It's reminiscent of the collapses and civil-wars of the 90s in Africa.
It was entirely preventable though, Obama (or any capable president would have) forced a regime change already.
Why this didn't happen is because:
1. Trump's hardline on Cuba made Cuba try to prop-up Maduro.
2. The US inaction towards Russia gave Russia the permission to prop-up Maduro.
Maduro was planning to leave when Russia said "don't".
3. General collapse in US foreign policy capabilities and loss of credibility.
